This is one of my favorite songs that I wrote for this album. I remember seeing an old postcard in a vintage shop. It was a picture of the Roosevelt Hotel. It was written by a woman writing to her lover. It seems that they often met at the Roosevelt Hotel. I imagined for a moment that a day might come where she would be waiting but he would not show up ever again. And then I imagined her wandering around L.A. wondering if he would ever return.

    Lyrics

    Roosevelt Hotel

    [Verse 1]
    There were strawberry fields
    Where this building stands
    In a postcard dated
    nineteen forty two

    Scene from a view
    Of the Roosevelt Hotel
Where the love of a woman
    Was scripted by hand

    Where are you now
    Some fifty years later
    Unfolding the ribbon
    Of history's past

    Longing for romance
    In a velveteen rabbit
    Of an earlier day
    When love was so vast

    [Chorus]
Now I just had a feeling
    You'd understand
    The love of this woman
For the love of a man

    [Verse ]
    She'll find that space again
    On some corner of town
    Celebrated by statues
    In Armani gowns

    That still means something
    To the window washing dreamers
    Lost on the battlefield
    Of another working day

    [Chorus]
Now I just had a feeling
    You'd understand
    The love of this woman
    For the love of
For the love of a man

    [instrumental]

    [Chorus]
Now I just had a feeling
    You'd understand
    The love of this woman
For the love of a man

    [Chorus]
Yeah I just had a feeling
    You'd understand
    The love of this woman
For the love of a man

There were strawberry fields where this building stands
